FoodSeed, the Agrifoodtech acceleration program of CDP Venture Capital’s National Accelerator Network, co-invested and co-led by Eatable Adventures, Fondazione Cariverona, and UniCredit, has successfully completed its third edition with the presentation of seven groundbreaking Agrifoodtech startups.

The cohort, composed of five Italian startups and two international ones from Switzerland and the Netherlands, both with Italian founders, represents the new generation of European AgriFoodTech ventures. Their solutions, spanning biotechnology, AI, and circular economy, aim to reshape the entire food value chain, from production to processing, fostering a sustainable transition across industries.

Building bridges for Agrifoodtech innovation

Launched in 2023 with a total fund of €15 million, FoodSeed has so far accelerated 21 startups, which have collectively raised over €10 million in investments and established more than 50 industrial collaborations.

The program’s strength lies in its open innovation model, connecting startups, corporations, research centers, and investors to translate research-based technologies, often born in academic labs, into scalable industrial applications.

“With FoodSeed, we have built a solid bridge between science, entrepreneurship, and industry,” said Alberto Barbari, Regional VP at Eatable Adventures. “This program demonstrates how innovation can strengthen the competitiveness of the agri-food sector not only in Italy or Europe, but across global markets. The startups accelerated this year are addressing universal challenges — from food waste to climate resilience — with scalable, sustainable technologies ready for worldwide adoption.”

The seven high-impact projects emerging from FoodSeed’s acceleration program

FoodSeed has selected seven projects tackling different challenges in the food value chain, showcasing how innovation and technology can drive sustainability and competitiveness in the global AgriFoodTech sector:

    • Kymia: From pistachio shells to high-value ingredients for cosmetics and nutrition
Kymia transforms pistachio by-products, particularly the husk, into active ingredients for the food, cosmetics, and nutraceutical markets. Founded in Sicily, the startup developed a low-energy extraction process that yields antioxidant-rich compounds with proven anti-aging and antibacterial properties. Kymia turns agricultural residues into premium natural ingredients, offering a scalable circular economy model for the global beauty and wellness industries.
    • Bloxy: bio-based active packaging that preserves freshness and taste
Bloxy reinvents food packaging with a patented, transparent, and fully biodegradable bio-based material that acts as an active oxygen barrier, extending shelf life and preserving flavor. Unlike conventional multilayer or metallic films, Bloxy’s solution can be applied as a coating or pouch, combining sustainability and performance to reduce food waste and plastic pollution.
    • Alma Serum: transforming dairy by-products into next-generation cosmetics
AlmaSerum gives new life to whey — a by-product of the dairy industry — by converting it into cosmetic ingredients using proprietary electrospinning and nanotech filtration. The process produces clean water for reuse in dairies and enriched membranes for masks and patches. Compact and efficient, AlmaSerum’s machines enable on-site production, cutting transport emissions and creating new revenue streams from waste.
    • Peel Pack: 100% compostable packaging made from potato peels
PeelPack develops compostable bioplastic containers for fruits and vegetables made from industrial potato peels. Collaborating with farmers, retailers, and composting facilities, the startup builds a circular value chain that reduces CO₂ emissions and dependence on fossil-based packaging. Its proprietary process delivers durable, compostable packaging ready to meet EU single-use plastic regulations.
    • Green Ant: AI and satellite technology to tackle climate risks in agriculture
GreenAnt has created Desidera, a platform for precision agriculture and climate risk management using AI and SAR satellite data. It monitors crops, soil health, and flood risk with high accuracy, even in adverse weather. In the face of climate-related yield losses, Desidera helps farmers increase productivity by up to 20% through real-time predictive analytics.
    • Noiet: Fermented proteins for clean-label, multifunctional food ingredients
NOIET develops fermented proteins that naturally replace multiple synthetic additives in food manufacturing. These multifunctional proteins ensure preservation, antioxidant protection, and extended shelf life in one ingredient. Based on microbial fermentation, NOIET’s technology enables healthier, more transparent, and sustainable food formulations.
    • Prospecto: AI-driven vineyard monitoring for smarter, more efficient agriculture
Prospecto provides AI-powered vineyard monitoring that integrates directly into daily farming operations. Cameras mounted on tractors analyze images in real time, supplying data on grape clusters, foliage, and yields. This automation reduces costs, enhances decision-making, and supports more sustainable and data-driven viticulture.

“At Eatable Adventures, we are committed to building a global bridge for Foodtech innovation,” said José Luis Cabañero, Founder and CEO at Eatable Adventures. “Through programs like FoodSeed, we’re empowering startups to turn cutting-edge science into scalable business solutions, creating tangible impact across continents.”
