Does speaking Spanish mean receiving less investment? Eatable Adventures launches Raíces to reduce the investment gap affecting Spanish-speaking startups

The Spanish-speaking world accounts for nearly 20% of global agrifood exports, yet receives just 3% of global Agrifoodtech investment. Raíces, the agrifoodtech startup acceleration program by Eatable Adventures, aims to close that gap — supporting startups in Spain and Latin America with up to €1M in investment, corporate pilots and access to international markets.

Eatable Adventures, a leading global Agrifoodtech accelerator, has today opened applications for Raíces 2026, the second edition of its program targeting agrifood innovation ecosystems in Spain and Latin America. The goal is to turn the most promising solutions from the Spanish-speaking world into scalable businesses with international reach — in a region that, despite representing nearly 20% of global agrifood exports and connecting over 500 million people through shared language and value chains, still receives just 3% of global Agrifoodtech investment.

Raíces was created to connect corporations, institutions and Spanish-speaking startups, positioning itself as a unique platform for transferring innovation between two key regions for the food industry: Europe and Latin America. Eatable Adventures has a strong and consolidated presence in both, through acceleration programs, a network of innovation hubs and strategic partners in Colombia and the Southern Cone. In the previous edition, five startups were selected and moved from idea to market, thanks to connections with over 80 international corporates and the development of around 15 pilots to test and validate their technology in real environments. Building on that success, Eatable Adventures now seeks to broaden its impact with a new call and expanded technology categories relevant to the agrifood sector.

“Raíces is not just an acceleration program: it is proof that when you connect Spanish-speaking talent with the right investment, expert mentorship and direct industry access, startups scale. That is exactly what we do at Eatable Adventures: our unique methodology, combined with our international network of strategic partners, allows us not only to create but to activate innovation ecosystems — moving from solution to market, building the food system from within,” said Mila Valcárcel, Managing Partner of Eatable Adventures.

For the program, Eatable Adventures has assembled a strong network of strategic partners to support the cohort. Raíces 2026 will count on the collaboration of ICEX, to drive the global expansion of startups; AZTI, as a strategic ally in technology development and validation; the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, as business support in the region; and Bimbo Ventures, which will offer startups the opportunity to validate their solutions through real pilots and commercial agreements.

A 16-week Agrifoodtech startup acceleration program with direct investment and access to international markets

Raíces 2026 offers selected startups a high-performance 16-week acceleration program with two in-person bootcamps in Madrid and Bogotá. Participants will receive between 100,000 euros in initial investment and up to one million euros in total investment, access to a global network of corporations, institutions and funds, real pilot opportunities in European and Latin American markets, and international visibility through key media coverage and participation in strategic sector events.

The program targets startups with a technology base working across seven areas: health and nutrition, next-generation agriculture, circular value chain, next-generation ingredients, Fresh Tech, AgroFintech and transversal artificial intelligence — the latter introduced as a specific category in this edition.

The program offers a unique opportunity for startups from both regions: Spanish companies will be able to develop pilots with Latin American corporates, accessing a market of over 420 million people; Latin American startups will gain access to the Spanish and European ecosystem, using the program as a gateway into Europe.
